![]() ![]() I find with the ZHP "D" gives me fine performance. I go to M1 and then after I'm moving I knock it back over into D. I do that sometimes if I forget to let the car warm up enough. ![]() My SA said this is because of the more performance oriented transmission specifically designed for BMW.ītw - shifting into M1 gets immediate forward movement. ![]() I probably still don't give it quite that long.įrom what I've read here and on E46Fanatics my understanding is the issue is with the time it takes a cold transmission to achieve adequate hydraulic fluid pressure. My SA recommended giving one minute for the car/tranny to warm up after a cold start. He said the software fix actually just "tricked" the transmission into thinking it was warmed up sooner. ![]() He said it really is a design issue and not necessarily considered a design flaw, just that these transmissions are designed to need a little more warming up than we are used to. He said the main fix other than the software update was pretty much just what you described - need to let the car warm up a little longer. He first had the tech check to see if my tranny had the latest software. I bought my car used (CPO) and just had it in for window regulators and oil sensor last week and discussed this with my SA. ![]()
